Study plan teachers are not-yet-certified teachers who are eligible to work as Pre-K and/or 3K lead teachers at New York City Early Childhood Community-Based Organizations (CBOs). Study plan teachers pursue certification while teaching full-time.
Ideal study plan candidates include experienced educators who have not yet obtained certification, undergraduate or graduate early childhood education students, and teachers who are certified in another state, but have not yet secured NY State teacher certification.
Hold a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Early Childhood or a below related field with 12+ credit hours in early childhood coursework
While teaching full-time, study plan teachers work toward their NY State teacher certification, which they commit to earning within five to seven years of employment.聽
Complete an approved NY State teacher preparation program in Early Childhood Education (Birth 鈥� Grade 2)
Your teacher preparation program must recommend you for certification through the TEACH system.

Teachers on a study plan should be ready to provide employers with proof that they are on track to become certified within the mandated time period for their role.聽

Ask your advisor for a note on official letterhead stating that you are in good standing with the university.
Provide your transcript(s) to prove that you have successfully completed early education coursework.聽聽
Share an e-mail confirming your official enrollment in an Early Childhood Teacher Preparation Program.聽 聽聽
