Subject Areas

Partner Teachers are prepared to teach where they are needed most. Subject areas offered through the NYC Teaching Collaborative vary each year and may shift throughout the application season based on the hiring needs of NYC Ʒ߿.

Rather than applying to teach a specific subject, you’ll indicate your preferences during the application process. Your subject area will be assigned based on:

  • Your eligibility according to New York State coursework requirements
  • Your subject area preferences
  • Anticipated hiring needs in NYC schools

Subject areas are provisionally assigned to candidates who pass the application process. Final assignments may change based on availability and university partner requirements. If you have a strong preference for a particular subject, apply early and review the Subject Area Requirements to ensure you meet the necessary coursework requirements.
