How to Apply

Our selection process is designed to identify candidates who are ready to become great teachers for NYC students. There are three main steps:

Step 1

Submit the Online Application

Share your background, experiences, and commitment to equity in education. We look for professionalism, critical thinking, and a belief in the potential of all students. Applications are reviewed as they are received, and early applicants have the best chance to secure their preferred subject area and interview time.

Step 2

Phone Interview

If invited, you’ll complete a 30-minute one-on-one interview exploring your motivation to teach and how you would approach common classroom challenges. Some applicants may move directly to Selection Day based on the strength of their written application.

Step 3

Selection Day (Virtual)

At this event, you’ll teach a 5-minute sample lesson and engage in a hands-on teaching activity. We’re looking for clear communication, presence, and the ability to break down complex ideas. Offers are extended based on the strength of your performance, your subject area eligibility, and the needs of NYC public schools.
