Make a good living doing what you love. NYC Ʒ߿ (NYCPS) teachers earn a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. 

Starting Salary

Your contract includes an assigned base salary and salary schedule, negotiated by the United Federation of Teachers (UFT). As of September 14, 2025, the starting salary for teachers without prior teaching experience is $68,902 with a bachelor’s degree and $77,017 with a master’s degree.

Teachers receive yearly automatic increases and annual retention bonuses. Over time, your salary can grow in two main ways: Increases based on years of teaching experience (salary steps) and increases for educational credits earned beyond a bachelor’s degree (salary differentials).
