Priority Jobs

It is an exciting period of growth and opportunity at NYC Ʒ߿ (NYCPS). With smaller class sizes being phased in and a record number of teacher hires expected over the next few years, there’s never been a better time to start—or advance—your teaching career in NYC.

NYCPS hires talented teachers across all grade levels and subject areas. But some roles—and some school communities—have a more urgent need for great teachers. If you're passionate about making a direct impact, consider teaching in a high-need subject area or in one of the City's priority school districts.

NYCPS Districts

NYCPS is divided into 32 geographic districts across the five boroughs and two citywide districts:

  • District 75 for students with moderate to severe learning disabilities, and
  • District 79 for students in the city’s alternative schools and programs

Our 1,600+ schools are as diverse as the students they serve. They range from neighborhood institutions with deep roots to small thematic schools specializing in STEM, the arts, bilingual education, or career and technical education. Use the search tool below to find one that’s right for you.

High-Need Subject Areas

NYCPS is especially seeking teachers certified in critical subject areas to make a difference in our schools, including:

  • Bilingual Education
  • Career and Technical Education (CTE)
  • English as a New Language (ENL)
  • Mathematics
  • Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, General Science)
  • Special Education (Students with Disabilities)
  • World Languages (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin)

Earning certification in these subject areas can increase your hiring prospects, open doors to additional opportunities, and position you to make a real difference for NYC students.
