The NYC Teaching Fellows program prepares you to lead your own classroom with confidence鈥攕tarting from day one. You鈥檒l receive hands-on training, personalized support, and a subsidized master鈥檚 degree,聽鈥攁ll while teaching full-time in NYC鈥檚 highest-need schools.
Your journey begins with 7 weeks of intensive summer training, from early June to early August. This rigorous program prepares you with the core teaching skills you鈥檒l need to start strong.
During training, you will:
Our training sets a high bar because we know that teacher quality is the most important factor in raising student achievement. By holding a high bar and helping you meet it, we ensure that the students of New York City get the great teachers they need and deserve.
The program covers most of the cost of your master鈥檚 degree (excluding books and fees). Any remaining tuition is deducted from your paycheck once you begin teaching.
Additional coursework may be required to meet New York State certification regulations; these costs are the responsibility of the Fellow.
As a Fellow, you will begin working under a Transitional B Certificate, a temporary license that allows you to teach while taking the steps below to earn your Initial Certificate. You鈥檒l receive personalized guidance throughout the process to ensure you stay on track to earn your Initial Certificate and continue your teaching career.
